Archive #1247 is a working designer who builds collections only from found garments and deadstock fabric.
// Pre-project: quiet wealth, under the surface. Work moved local only. Word of mouth. Backroom fittings. Closed doors. No flash gave it away.
He knows markets, warehouses, and side street thrift shops in more cities than he can list from memory.
For this project, we followed him through his usual circuit of sources and documented one full sourcing run from arrival to final fitting.
The shopping cart image is taken outside his preferred thrift depot on the edge of Johannesburg, at the end of a 9 hour dig through unsorted stock.

The story we tell is simple: Impact does not ask permission. Legacy does not need a front row seat.
Archive #1247 has now become a household name, his work recognized globally. this shift happened 8 months after our work with him.
These clothes will outlive the campaign, outlive the trend cycle, maybe even outlive the places they were found.
Archive #1247 unnamed in all public material by choice. Project shows fashion from overlooked material can feel precise, personal, lasting.
Even when author stays almost invisible.
